This Recert course discusses the importance of record keeping as it relates to class test results and the methods of providing feedback to students about those results. Students will also explore the creation and implementation of course and program evaluation plans; examine test validity, reliability, and item analysis; and learn about the use and interpretation of performance evaluations.

After completing this course, the fire instructor will be able to:

• Describe record-keeping systems needed for test results.
• Discuss applicable laws and methods of providing feedback to students about test results.
• Discuss creation and implementation of course and program evaluation plans.
• Explain test validity, reliability, and item analysis.
• Discuss the use of performance evaluations.
• Discuss the interpretation of evaluation results.

Fire instructors who successfully complete the Managing the Evaluation System course are eligible for 1.5 hours of continuing education.
